The Long Island Addiction Resource Center, powered by HUGS, Inc., provides easy-to-use access to invaluable information about providers of education, prevention, treatment, recovery and peer services in Nassau and Suffolk counties. This bi-county, collaborative effort is aimed at all populations – community members, substance use disorder and problem gambling field professionals. The goal: Reducing the negative public perception surrounding substance use disorder and increasing awareness of resources available.

The Division of Community Mental Hygiene Services is the local governmental unit responsible for the coordination and oversight of all community services to persons with alcohol and substance use disorder problems, mental illness, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Community Mental Hygiene Services are authorized under the New York State Mental Hygiene Law. The Division functions in concert with New York State’s Office of Mental Health, Office of Addiction Services and Supports, and the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Thrive Suffolk County New York Drug & Alcohol Recovery Help. THRIVE Suffolk opened its doors in March of 2017 in response to the growing opioid epidemic. This program is the result of a partnership between Family and Children’s Association, Long Island Recovery Association (LIRA), Families in Support of Treatment (F.I.S.T.), and the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD). Our centrally located community center provides transportation to our services from local treatment centers and recovery homes, free of charge. We also bring in support workshops and activities to local recovery homes and numerous treatment centers in the area. This program is always evolving to meet the needs of our growing community to continue to support thousands of individuals each month.
